The cake was beautiful to behold, absolutely gorgeous! The sponge cake itself was not as delicious as anticipated. The syrup did not moisten the cake. It was dry and actually tasted a bit stale. The butter cream and the chocolate candy outside were delicious! My family suggested that I do this cake again but substitute the sponge cake with German chocolate. They suggested I keep the delicious butter cream icing and chocolate wrapping.
I’m so glad everyone enjoyed the cake! Hmm, I haven’t ran across that problem myself but it might be from underbeating, maybe some of the sweetened condensed milk didn’t get mixed with the butter well enough and started to separate… I’ll have to research that!
